1. Introduction
Mispar Bookkeeping (“Mispar,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a U.S. bookkeeping service for small businesses and freelancers. We provide monthly bookkeeping, catch-up bookkeeping, and tax-ready financial statements, working inside your existing QuickBooks Online or Xero account.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our website at misparbooks.com, our client portal at portal.misparbooks.com, and our bookkeeping services. By using our site or services, you accept the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in three categories:
(a) Information you give us
When you contact us, book a consultation, or sign up for an account, you may provide your name, business name, email address, phone number, mailing address, business entity type, and industry, along with anything you include in a contact form or message.
(b) Financial and bookkeeping information
To deliver our services, we work with bank and credit card transaction data, invoices, receipts, payroll summaries, tax documents, and accounting records. This information is accessed through read-only or delegated access to your QuickBooks Online, Xero, or financial institution connections, and is provided by you or authorized by you.
(c) Automatically collected information
When you visit our site, we automatically collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the referring URL, and similar analytics data through cookies and similar technologies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver bookkeeping services and prepare your financial statements.
- Communicate with you about your account and respond to your inquiries.
- Process payments and maintain billing records.
- Improve our services and our website.
- Send service updates and, where you’ve opted in, marketing emails you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- Comply with our legal and recordkeeping obligations.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls that limit client data to the team members assigned to your account, and secure document portals rather than email for sharing sensitive documents.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your client financial records for as long as your engagement is active, and afterward for the period required by applicable tax, accounting, and legal recordkeeping rules — generally at least seven years. After that, we securely delete or anonymize the information.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
- Receive a copy of your personal information.
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Request information about how we share your data.
To submit any of these requests, email hello@misparbooks.com. We will verify your identity before responding.
For California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information. Mispar does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
Our site and services may link to or integrate with third-party platforms — including QuickBooks, Xero, and payment processors — that have their own privacy policies. We do not control their practices and are not responsible for them. We encourage you to review their policies.
10. Children's Privacy
Our services are designed for businesses and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do, and we will communicate material changes to our active clients.
