Bookkeeping FAQs: Pricing, Process, Security & More
Answers to the most common questions small business owners ask before switching to Mispar — straight, plain-English answers, no legal disclaimers.
Pricing & Plans
How much does Mispar's bookkeeping service cost?
Mispar offers flat monthly pricing: Startup at $229/month, Grow at $429/month, and Premium at $629/month, each including monthly tax-ready financial reporting. Businesses with more complex needs can get a Custom plan by scheduling a call with a bookkeeping expert.
Which pricing plan is right for my business?
Startup fits freelancers and early-stage businesses with lower transaction volume. Grow fits growing small businesses with multiple accounts and higher volume. Premium fits established businesses that need faster turnaround, higher limits, and monthly strategy calls. If your business doesn't fit neatly into one tier, the Custom plan is built around your specific scope.
Are there any hidden fees or add-on charges?
No. Mispar's pricing is flat and published — tax-ready monthly reporting is included at every tier, not billed as a separate add-on the way some competitors structure it.
Do you charge extra for catch-up bookkeeping if I am behind?
Catch-up bookkeeping (bringing prior months current) is scoped and quoted separately from your ongoing monthly plan, since the amount of work depends on how far behind your books are.
Can I switch plans later as my business grows?
Yes. You can move between Startup, Grow, and Premium as your transaction volume and needs change, without starting over with a new provider.
Is there a contract or long-term commitment?
Mispar does not lock clients into long-term contracts — plans are billed monthly so you can adjust or leave as your needs change.

How It Works / Onboarding
How does Mispar's bookkeeping process actually work?
You connect your bank and credit card accounts (or existing QuickBooks/Xero file), your dedicated bookkeeper categorizes and reconciles every transaction monthly, and you receive tax-ready financial statements — a profit & loss statement and balance sheet — every month.
How long does onboarding take?
Typically within 24-48 hours from the discovery call.
Will I have a dedicated bookkeeper, or a rotating team?
You're assigned a dedicated bookkeeper who learns your business, rather than a rotating or shared team you have to re-explain your business to each time.
How do I communicate with my bookkeeper?
Communicating with the bookkeeper is done in our custom portal.
What do I need to provide to get started?
Set up a discovery call and we'll walk through what's needed based on your current status.
Do I need to already use QuickBooks or Xero?
No — Mispar can help you get set up if you do not already use one, and works inside your existing file if you do, so you always own your own books.

Security & Data
Is my financial data secure with Mispar?
Yes. Client financial data is handled with encrypted, access-controlled systems, and read-only account access is used wherever possible so your banking credentials are never directly exposed.
Who has access to my financial information?
Only your dedicated bookkeeper and the account oversight needed to deliver your monthly reporting have access to your data — it is not shared with third parties for marketing or other purposes.
What happens to my data if I cancel service?
Because Mispar works inside your own QuickBooks or Xero file rather than a proprietary platform, your financial data and history remain yours and stay in your own account if you ever leave.
Does Mispar sell or share my business data?
No, client financial data is used solely to deliver bookkeeping services and is not sold or shared with third parties for other purposes.

Tax Season & Compliance
Will my books be ready for tax season?
Yes — tax-ready financial statements are produced every month, not just once a year, so by the time tax season arrives your accountant already has accurate, reconciled numbers to work from.
Does Mispar file my taxes?
Bookkeeping and tax-ready reporting are Mispar's core service; tax filing itself is typically handled by your CPA or tax preparer, using the tax-ready statements Mispar provides. Ask about current tax-filing partnership options for your situation.
What if my books are already behind before tax season?
Mispar offers catch-up bookkeeping to bring backlogged months current before tax filing, so your accountant isn't working from incomplete records under a deadline.
Can Mispar work directly with my accountant or CPA?
Yes — your dedicated bookkeeper can share tax-ready statements directly with your accountant or CPA each month or at filing time.
Switching Providers
I am currently with Bench or Pilot — can I switch to Mispar without losing my data?
Yes. Because Mispar works inside your own QuickBooks or Xero file rather than a closed proprietary platform, switching providers does not mean starting your financial history over.
How long does it take to switch bookkeeping providers?
Typically within 24-48 hours from the discovery call.
Will there be a gap in my bookkeeping while I switch?
No — onboarding is scoped to pick up exactly where your books currently stand, including catching up any months that need it, so there's no gap in your monthly reporting.
What if my previous provider used a platform I cannot export my data from?
Mispar's onboarding process includes reviewing what data is available and reconstructing any gaps through catch-up bookkeeping, so a difficult export from a previous provider doesn't leave your books incomplete.
