Break-Even Calculator

How many sales do you need each month to cover your bills? A coffee cart example is filled in below so you can see how it works. Swap in your own numbers and the answer updates as you type.

One or two words, like cups of coffee or landscaping jobs. This only changes the wording of your answer.

Rent, software, salaries, insurance. The bills you pay even in a month where you sell nothing.

A sale can be a cup of coffee, a finished job, or a month of a subscription. Use whatever one sale means for your business.

Only the costs of that one sale: ingredients, materials, shipping, fees. Do not count your monthly bills here.

Your break-even point

1,000

cups of coffee a month to cover your bills

That is $5,000.00 in sales for the month at the break-even point. Each extra sale adds $3.00 toward profit, before taxes and any costs not included here.

How to read your answer

Break-even is the point where your sales money has covered the month's bills. Before it, you are behind for the month. After it, each sale adds to profit. The example: a coffee cart pays $3,000 a month in bills, charges $5 a cup, and each cup costs $2 to make. Each cup adds $3 toward the bills, so 1,000 cups cover them.

Plain math on the numbers you enter, not financial, tax, or business advice. Nothing you type leaves this page.
